Where pristine landscapes have paid silent witness to the birth of a dynamic and diverse culture. The majestic mountains rolling green hills and vast grasslands flow onto endless golden beaches framing a tempestuous sea.
Convenience and excitement are the two things we try to combine for our tourists here in the Amathole District. That is why we have organized our tourism attractions and activities around five tourism routes namely; the Amathole Mountain Escape to Sunshine Coast and the Gateway City; on to the Friendly N6; and through the Wild Coast. The Amathole District is also rich in diverse heritage and culture hence the development of our four Heritage Routes which are overlapping with the tourism routes and named after the influential kings and prophets of the time- Maqoma Route, Makanda Route, Sandile Route and Phalo Route.
