The Amathole District Municipality recognised that there was a dire shortage of rare skills in the public sector and drafted a Rare Skills Bursary Policy document to help alleviate this problem

and to provide financial assistance to previously disadvantaged students. The policy was approved by Council in 2004 and implemented in 2005 and caters mostly for engineering students studying at tertiary institutions. Since then 1 student has already graduated and two other students are currently in their final year of study. In 2010 the ADM once again offered 4 students an opportunity to study Civil Engineering. Seen in the picture above is the Municipal Manager, Mr Vuyo Mlokoti on the far left, three of the four 2010 bursary students, Sinethemba Rungqu, Nokulunga Mantyi and Mbongeni Bangani with the Executive Mayor, Alderman Sakhumzi Somyo (seated) and Cllr Veronica Fusa, Portfolio head for Human Resources on the far right A recruitment drive is shortly to be implemented to invite applications for the 2011 financial year. Should you be interested in applying, you can contact Ms Tandi Gadu, Chief Training Officer at (043) 701 4000. Please note that terms and conditions apply.
