ADM MUNICIPAL MANAGER MOURNS THE PASSING OF ANC STALWART REVEREND MAKHENKESI STOFILE

MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ADM MUNICIPAL MANAGER MOURNS THE PASSING OF ANC STALWART REVEREND MAKHENKESI STOFILE

Monday, 15 August 2016

ADM Headquarters

Amathole District Municipality (ADM) has joined millions of South Africans and people of the world, in mourning the untimely passing of the African National Congress (ANC) stalwart and Chancellor of the University of Fort Hare Reverend Makhenkesi Stofile.

Speaking on behalf of the ADM, Municipal Manager Chris Magwangqana said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the ill-timed passing of ‘Bro Stof’. It is ill-timed because it happens at a time when the country is thirsty for wisdom from and of the leaders of his caliber.

"He was a rare breed who was always modest, who served his country selflessly, and who truly dedicated most of his life fighting for liberation. An esteemed academic in his own right, Bro Stof inspired many of us for his uncompromising love for education. In him we lost a leader of stature, one who knew when to speak and how to convey a message of hope to our people.”

“On behalf of the ADM, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved family, the ANC in its entirety and all those affected by his untimely passing. May his departed soul rest in peace and rise in glory” - concluded a visibly saddened Magwangqana.
