The adoption follows extensive consultations led by ADM Executive Mayor Cllr Nceba Ndikinda together with his Mayoral Committee Members wherein a public participation drive to solicit comments/input from communities was done during April and May 2022.

Council also noted ASPIRE’s 2022/2023-2024/2025 budget alongside the ADM 2021/2022 institutional overview report, Mandatory Financial Recovery Plan as at end April, institutional overview report for ASPIRE Jan to March 2022.

It is important to note that ADM adopted a budget with a surplus of R61 million which will play a significant role in reducing historic creditors which include Amatola Water and the Department of Water and Sanitation.

Council further approved institutional policies that were tabled to council in March 2022 during the councilor workshop.

The meeting ended with council extending a word of gratitude to the Municipal Manager, Dr. Thandekile Mnyimba for steering the ship during the past five (5) years and further welcomed him to his new term which resumes in less than 24hours.

MISSION TO FLATTEN THE CURVE CONTINUES

The aim was to present an opportunity for all ADM workers and surrounding commu-nity who have not yet vaccinated to do so.

Amathole District Municipality (ADM) with Eastern Cape Department of Health’s (ECDoH) district based office conducted a two -day vaccination programme at Calgary Muse-um and Conference Centre on 05 – 06 May 2022.

The vaccination programme was open to everyone, whether the person was a first time vaxxer or going for the booster shot. Making full use of this initiative were a few members of council notably from Mbhashe Local Municipality as well as ADM staff members among them Vusumzi Tonisi who went for a booster shot. “ I’ve not had the time to go to other facilities that offer Covid-19 vaccination, and having the vaccination program here has been of help to me” – he said, adding -“now that I have had all three shots, I feel my chances of beating the virus are pretty good. Also doing my part to help flatten the curve is of importance to me which is one other reason I am here today” – he added.
