ADM MUNICIPAL MANAGER PARODY TWITTER ACCOUNT

Amathole District Municipal Manager Dr Thandekile Mnyimba officially distances himself from a Twitter parody account under the handle @DrMnyimba. 

The municipal manager does not have a Twitter or any social media account in his personal capacity.

The account, which was created in January 2021 uses Mnyimba's name and a picture of him as the account's profile picture. 

The Twitter account states it’s a parody account in its description; “MansNotDrMnyimba”

MEDIA RELEASE

COURT RULES ADM EMPLOYEE INDUSTRIAL STRIKE UNLAWFUL 

ADM Headquarters, 05 January 2021

The Labour Court of South Africa has, on the 23rd December 2020, ruled that Amathole District Municipality (ADM) employee strike was unlawful.

Although the illegal strike has since been suspended, ADM incurred over R19 million  direct and indirect costs. These included security personnel to guard ADM infrastructure against sabotage as well as replacement of infrastructure damages to restore supply. 

Although efforts to fully restore water supply are underway, it will take time for the system to recover. 

Water Supply has been restored in some parts of the district whilst we continue to fix vandalised infrastructure. 

Consequence Management for all employees who went on illegal industrial strike is underway (this includes the application of no work no pay principle).
