ADM Doubles Its Efforts To Cart Water To Drought Stricken Mnquma LM
TO: ALL MEDIA HOUSES
Monday, 16 Januaey, ADM Head Quarters
Amathole District Municipality (ADM) is doubling its efforts to bring water to all communities of Mnquma Local Municipality. Water tankers have been despatched to cart water at least three times a day while additional fifty (50) communal water tanks will be distributed in the most affected areas.
This follows the recent total dry up of all the dams supplying water to communities situated in Mnquma. ADM has placed on record that this is the 'worst ever' drought season in years, and if it persists, will leave thousands of residents without water for days.
Despite some communities having heeded ADM's plea to save and use water sparingly, the municipality has battled to get the others to use water with caution, which has contributed to the reality of a total water scarcity in the area.
ADM continues to appeal to ALL its communities to use water sparingly during these hard times.
