Luvuyo Mthimkhulu Dondolo


Luvuyo mthimkhulu dondolo Luvuyo Mthimkhulu Dondolo (Amathole District Municipality Heritage Manager) has Masters in Public and Visual History from the University of the Western Cape.
 
Dondolo is currently a PhD candidate in Museums and Heritage Studies and Social Transformation at the Fort Hare University, East London campus.
His dissertation addresses the nature and scope of intangible heritage, production of the post-apartheid memorial landscapes and construction of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in the Eastern Cape. Dondolo is the Rockefeller Foundation Scholarship holder and as such he spent one academic year at the Centre for the Study of Public Scholarship, Emory University (USA). He did his summer internship at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. His field of specialization is public history with specific focus on heritage resources management, museum management, exhibition development and cultural tourism.
 
He has participated in a number of research projects on the social history and heritage of Cape Town, including the Gugulethu Project, the District Six Museum, and the Project on Public Pasts. Dondolo also developed an exhibition called Langa Histories at Guga S'thebe, a community center in Langa, Cape Town, as part of the 2000 Cape Town One City Festival. In addition, he mounted an exhibition called Township Moments and Memories for Gugulethu Information Centre. To further his research work, he has conducted research and training for the South African Heritage Resources Agency, the Robben Island Museum, and the Cape Peninsula National Park, including Qunu and Mvezo historical research for conservation of the Nelson Mandela Heritage Trail.
 
Dondolo has published two articles, co-authored a book and also has presented a number of academic papers at national and international conferences. Since joining the Amathole District Municipality as the Heritage Manager he has and continues undertaking a number of heritage projects in the district with the aim to safeguard the available heritage resources for present and future generations.

Bonke Tyhulu


Bonke tyhulu Obtained a B.A. Degree with the University of Western Cape in 1998.
 
He got the Swedish Scholarship in 1999 to do a P/G Diploma in Museum and Heritage Studies with the Universities of Western Cape, Cape Town and Robben Island Museum.
 
He also completed BA (Hons) with the University of Stellenbosch focusing on oral history collection.
He is currently an MA candidate with the University of Fort Hare. His studies have combined community tourism development and heritage resources management. He has vast experience in heritage resources and museum field. This experience includes the involvement with a number of community organizations including oral history collection about the Langa history and Luyolo.
 
Luyolo was a black township in Simon's Town, Cape Town that was forcefully removed and placed in areas like Gugulethu and Nyanga. He worked for the Lwandle Migrant Labour Museum in Cape Town. He latter joined the ADM.

N. Yakopi


Obtained a B. A. Degree from the University of the Western Cape in 1994 with Xhosa, English and Sociology as majors. Currently doing Honours in Development Studies with the University of Fort Hare. Very passionate and eager to gain more knowledge about participatory development.
 
Experienced in community based development programmes, especially around rural areas of the Eastern Cape. Worked as a youth development officer for the Department of Education and also within the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture - Heritage Section. Joined ADM 2003 as a community liaison officer until joining the Heritage unit in November 2005.
